Why do I have to render a ProRes clip in a ProRes timeline?
I’ve just made the jump from FCP7 and usually I can just drop a ProRes 422HQ clip into a ProRes 422HQ sequence and not have to render.
When I do the same in Premiere Pro I get a yellow render bar, and after rendering it, I get a green render bar. Even though I’ve set the sequence settings to this:
Why do I have to render it?

I did find a solution.
Closing the timeline and reopening it, seems to fix the bug.

Also are you sure that the footage isn’t interlaced?

Hi Edwin,
No one is making you render anything. Even if you have a red bar, if the timeline plays back well enough to get the editing done, don’t worry about it. When you export at the end, it gets encoded straight from source to destination for best quality, without any intermediate copy being involved.
