Okay, I’m sure the answer to this is simple but here’s the scenario:

I’ve imported an AI file containing a 4 letter word. (No, not that one.) I’ve duplicated it 3 times & drawn a mask around a different letter in each dupe so that the 4 letters are separate.

    They’re all set to 3D.

I’ve animated their motion through z so that they fly from behind the camera & land on a background solid.

The background solid is also set to 3D.

I have a camera & a parallel light which is set to cast shadows.

All the layers are set to cast shadows but not to receive (except for the background solid, of course) & all the ambient light settings are at zero.

So why can’t I see any shadows? I simply cannot spot the (presumably obvious) problem here.

    Can anyone help?

hehe – just kidding of course.

I would switch to using a Spotlight which has a wider range. Also, oftentimes, the relative positions of your object, camera and background (shadow layer) have to be strategically placed.

Oh, and ensure that Draft 3D isn’t switched on – well, it does happen. 🙂
