  • Why can’t I mix 23.97 fps and 29.97 fps footage with rendering the 23.97?

Project is XDCAM HD @ 29.97 fps. Basic interviews with broll laid on top. I shot interviews at 29.97 fps. Broll shot by someone else months ago at 23.97 fps.

It looks like it overlays it where I want it on the second video track, but I can’t see it play or on the timeline until I render it. If I pull it straight from the source monitor, I get all the audio tracks, which I don’t need. Do I need to reinterpret footage or just render as I edit to be able to tweak footage? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

If you right-click the retimed footage (23.97fps) and unselect frame blend it MIGHT turn the timeline to yellow and avoid render. It’ll drop retime instead of blend retime.

If you need to pull just video from the source window, under the source vide itslf, you will see a film strip and a speaker, drag the filmstrip to the timeline and it’ll just drop in the video.

    Cheers,
