Why can’t I get this matte key to work?
I’m trying to composite two clips using an animated matte. The matte itself was captured from tape in the same way as the two video clips, it wasn’t imported as a targa sequence or anything like that.
The intended effect is to have Clip A wiped away by the matte to reveal Clip B – very simple you’d think. I’m familiar with using animated mattes in Avid and Premiere, but I just can’t get it to work in FCP. I can’t find a “track matte” option, so I’m trying to use the “image mask”, which according to the FCP manual will work with either single-frame masks or animated masks.
I’ve put Clip A on V2, Clip B on V1. Then I added the Image Mask filter to Clip A, and dragged the matte clip into the little dropbox in the Image Mask control panel.
