  • Why can’t I add a keyframe?

Posted by Paul Boone on January 31, 2012 at 6:13 pm

I’ve tried many different compositions, and quiting and restarting but “add keyframe” remains greyed out. I have the layer selected with my playhead where I want the keyframe, go up to animation menu and try to select add keyframe but for some reason I can’t now.

The keyframe I’m trying to add is on the soundtrack, and then add a keyframe within the precomp to sync them up

    Do you mean layer marker?

As a new user, all those different terms can be confusing. I was a new user once… about 10 years ago! 🙂

An easy way to add markers is just to press the * key on your numeric keypad. If you have a layer selected, it adds a layer marker to it. If no layer is selected, it adds a marker to your composition.
