Why are some of the pictures in my project now reduced and or letterboxed?
I finished my project and posted it online for live streaming.
In order to get it to play right, the website said I should compress it and make other tweaks so that it would play better when it’s watched via online streaming.
The tweaks I made were to the template used to burn the video to my laptop. After I burned the video, many pictures (I used a lot of still shots) were letterboxed, i.e. they did not fill the entire screen, there was black around the edges and or top and bottom.
Now- when I burn that same project – even though I am using an UNCOMPRESSED template – without all of the tweaks that I implemented as per the website requests – many of the pictures STILL come out letterboxed, ie. w black showing on the top and bottom or sides. To be clear, many pictures and videos come out filling the entire screen but many are also showing black on sides or top and bottom.
How can that be?
Don’t the tweaks to the template only apply to when I use THAT specific template? Why would I get the same black on sides and top when using a different template?

Has to do with the project template not the render template. When the clip is in the timeline, right click and go to properties and there is a button to set the source media to match the project. Click it and it should scale the media t othe pre-selected template that your timeline is in ie. 1440×1080 would get scaled to 1920×1080, assuming you’re running a 1920×1080 timeline.

I always set my project settings to 1980 by 1040 but I will double check that and report back.
However, I rendered the project previous to using the template that I set to compress as per the website hosting company spec guidelines and it was not letterboxed. Since I rendered the project using the template that I set up to compress – the project STILL comes out letterboxed – even when i use other templates.
I’ll double check all of the settings as per your advice and report back.

Yes, try the match source. If not it may cause a letterbox because the other media didn’t get scaled up to match the project settings.
