  • Why are my clips re-arraigned in the bin?

I searched for this but couldn’t find anything so if this has already been answered a link to the post would be appreciated.

I’ve been using PP1.5 and recently jumped to CS3 (yeah, yeah, I know I’m still one behind) anyway…. I always capture my clips in the order they will lay onto the time line so when I open the bin they are in the correct order from top to bottom. Highlight from top to bottom, drop on the time line and start editing.

In CS3 my clips are rearranged in the bin and listed in “alphabetical order” no matter how I captured them. Is there a setting for this or do I now have to sort through every clip to figure out where it needs to lay on the time line.

Also…. why can’t I tab through the in and out time code anymore when entering clip info in the capture window prior to batch capture? Mouse clicking on the in and out time to enter them is a total time consuming pain.

If you extend the project window you will see all kinds of metadata displayed.
You can choose any of these columns (click on the name) to get you clips in the correct order you like them to be.

Thanks Ann but as far as I can tell there is no option to arrange the clips in the order they were captured. Premier does not assign them a “created” date and time so that feature is only available for titles and other things created in the program.

Use a number in the name of the clip.

    Good luck

Yeah, I thought of that… I could probably also number the clip in the scene or Shot column as well to get it to display in a specific order. It just seems like a totally unnecessary step in the logging process, especially since it was never a problem before.
    Thanks, Rex
