  • Why am i getting 720p despite my video is 1080p?

Posted by Engin Osmanovski on February 20, 2013 at 5:01 pm

Despite i rendered my video as H264 HD 1080p, when i upload it to Youtube the maximum quality option under the video seems to be 720p. What might i be doing wrong?

I chose “Scale to Fill” option in the Output tab of the Export Settings window. Can this be the reason? (The size was still set to 1080p…)

open the encoded file you uploaded to youtube on your system…is it 1080?

    Yes, it is, Chris.

Actually the problem seems to be solved right now. I don’t know how but 10-15 minutes after the upload the maximum quality option became 1080p as it should be. I have no idea why it was 720p before.

I believe that YouTube upload requirements are 720p . I could be wrong but we always compress for 720p for you tube delivery no matter what the HD source

But why is there a 1080p Youtube preset in Premiere Pro if youtube requirements are 720p?

Everything I upload to You Tube is 1080P. There is a slight delay after uploading that involves the processing of that video. Over a few minutes the 1080 display option is eventually displayed.

should be noted the Vimeo specs are about the same but they
    recommend:

    2,500 kbps for SD video

    5,000 kbps for HD video

Stick to those for Vimeo as they stream the exact file you upload,
any higher and it will likely stutter on lower end systems.
