Whould this be OK for AE?

I have a 2Ghz core2duo T7200 in my laptop with 2 GB of ram and a mobile radeon x1600. I could not ask for better AE performance in a laptop. While not a screamer, I can run AE, PPro, and IE all at the same time with acceptable results.
I just wish they would release quad core laptop processors (like the q6600).

Eternity…don’t miss it for the world.

Don’t worry about the GPU at all for AE. Literally, not at all. Get the cheapest GPU you can that will do everything else you need it to do (3D programs? Fancy OS animations? etc). Get as much RAM as you can and get the best processor you can reasonably afford.

In general terms, a faster clock speed is better, so 2GHz > 1.7GHz, although this doesn’t apply as much when comparing processors from different manufacturers/using different architectures (A 1.8GHz Celeron for example wouldn’t be as good as a 1.7GHz Core 2 Duo).
