Who’s using an MXO 2 with FCP? Increased RT performance?
Hello. I have a couple questions for those who are using a Matrox MXO 2 with FCP:
I read that one of the features of the MXO 2 is improved RT performance with FCP (quote from Matrox site below). I just got off the phone with Matrox sales, and am still unclear about in what way and how much a MXO 2 increases RT performance with FCP2. I’m not very famular with hardware acceleration devises, so please bear with me…
1. Does the MXO 2 actually take “weight” off the computer’s CPU, resulting on less red render bars?
2. Does it accomplish better RT by the Matrox drivers telling FCP that some chips inside the MXO 2 will take care of the some process that FDP would otherwise do (using the CPU)?
3. About how much better RT would one get with a MXO 2?
Thanks,
ChrisFrom the Matrox site:
“In Dynamic RT editing mode, Final Cut Pro automatically reduces frame size to let you preview non-realtime segments of your project at a better frame rate. With the MXO2 hardware upscaler, these segments are accelerated to their original frame size saving processing power for other Final Cut Pro operations, so you get better realtime performance.”
