I need to get an estimate on a map for a video project. But a search on Google and here hasn’t revealed who video people hire to create maps.

Anyone have any idea? I need a 2D map made around Yellowstone showcasing the mountainous terrain. Roads and towns are not important. It’s also not important that it looks realistic in that I’d prefer it to look more like a drawing rather than a low-res Google earth imitation. I actually need to ‘cheat’ the map a bit to make things look closer…..

I don’t think getting a painter or artist to create what I want is in the budget though.

    Thanks for any advice.

Our internal shop uses GIS (mostly ARC-GIS) applications to extract and combine any type of spatial and overlay data for custom mapping output. they often send us .psds that have dozens of layers. We just turn the ones we need on or off in Photoshop.

If goggle Maps or Google Earth can’t satisfy your needs, try looking for GIS of the Yellowstone area. There must be literally thousands of maps for that region that include any geological, geographical, political and miscellaneous data you can imagine.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
