  • White Color Balance to daylight in AE?

Posted by Joseph Wilkins on May 31, 2006 at 10:44 pm

I have some greenscreen footage of a guy shot on a well lit greenscreen and a background plate of an outdoor scene.

I need to make the 3200k lighting look like 5600k to composite the guy in an out door environment.

    Is this possible in AE?

    Thanks

The name of the effect lies in your subject header. Hit cmd/ctrl + 5, then type in “color balance”.

In general, people do these kinds of adjustments until it looks right to the eye, but you may want to look into Digital Film Tools for color temperature filters.

But I have to ask … the 3200K shot wasn’t white balanced in camera? How about the daylight shot?

Yes, it was white balanced, but the background plate is stock footage, so I dont know if it was…

Am I missing something else? Thanks for you r help!

You might want to consider Barend’s “color grading” tutorial.

Or place an orange solid over your footage, set to “color” transfer mode, then adjust its opacity. Or use a blue solid, depending on the footage.
