    Hi folks:

Apologies for the cross-post (with Motion forum)…

Just noticed on a round trip from FCP with DVCPRO HD 720p24 footage on a timeline with ‘Super-White’ set in the Video Processing tab in FCP, the motion project comes back with whites clamped at 100 units. Any way to turn this off in Motion?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best, JIM.

Not sure about Motion… but I do know Shake, After Effects, Combustion….etc always clamp DVCPRO-HD at 100 white. It seems only FCP has super-white overrides.

Dang…that sucks. There’s a pretty noticeable difference between the original footage on a super-white timeline (going to a DI and out to 35mm) and the 100 unit clip. Seems silly to me to lose the extra info…

    Any real-world workarounds much appreciated.

Not sure. I know that After Effects (for instance) clips the file on import. I wouldn’t blame them too much – it’s kinda assumed if you’re working in QT you’re probably only doing work for video output. Most DI processes go DPX, and then you’re in a whole different ballgame.

Perhaps if you export Animation codec from FCP. It shouldn’t have the 16-235 limits that video codecs assume.
