  Whip Transitions advice

  So I will be making a long take short film and in order to do that I need to use whip transitions for hiding cuts. How does one achieve the same quality of whip transitions like Birdman?

  The whip transition in Birdman is quite slow but it still manages to have enough motion blur to hide the cut. I’ve tried doing the whip transition with a pan that was slow enough to create some motion blur with a low shutter speed, but editing it was difficult. It was clear that there was a cut because you could see it, it would jump to the next clip. I want it to be a smooth transition, making it believable that there was no cut at all.

  So in summary, Birdman’s whip transitions are believable that there was no cut, how can I get the same quality?
  Usually when people do whip transitions they pan the camera really fast, I do not wish to do that.
