  • Which software to make DVD covers

    Hey –
Maybe somewhat off topic but I’m looking to find out what software you guys use to make DVD covers/labels. Would like to include freeze frames, copy and other elements to jazz it up. What say you?

There are lots of templates for Photoshop out there if you want DVD covers, just Google.

I’ve been using Disc Cover from Belight Software. I may do a little prep in Photoshop, but I piece it all together and print using Disc Cover. It has templates for just about everything you’d want to use.

    Frank,

The typical DVD box that we are used to is technically refered to in the biz as an “Amaray box,” and the printed part that slides into the plastic liner is called an “Amaray Sleeve.” You can find templates all over the net for creating artwork for Amaray sleeves, and those templates are typically provided in three formats so graphic artists may choose their favorite app for the job — you’ll usually find PhotoShop, Quark, and Illustrator templates provided.

I have an Epson R220 that will print direct on ink jet printable CD’s and DVD’s. Will Disclable print to that printer correctly, or am I stuck with the god-awful program that came with the printer? (“Epson Print CD” is the worst P.O.S. I have ever used. It doesn’t even have an Undo function!!!)

DISCUS EP came with my Epson. It’s kinda klunky, but works very well.
