  • which os to use 8gig of RAM for AE?

I am in a position where I need to purchase a new OS and want to know which is going to give me the complete 8gig of RAM I have to use with AE? I thought I heard 64 bit would do it, but someone else remarked that 32bit with a program called Ramdisk Plus would use all 8 gigs? Is there another way too maybe?

Never heard of Ramdisk, but I would be skeptical…

You are correct that 64 Bit OS is required to utilize 8GB RAM.

Interesting post. I was just doing some digging myself. I found an article by Mark Christiansen on the AdobePress website that partially deals with this subject. At least with maximum of Ram. The article is about otimizing your CS4 pipeline and can be found here: https://www.adobepress.com/articles/article.asp?p=1316795&seqNum=4
And scroll all the way down till the end of the article.

So I guess there’s not much use for RamDisks in this case. I think you benefit more from an add-on like GridIron Nulceo Pro to speed up some of the processes (https://www.gridironsoftware.com/).
