If you want to view the most ACCURATE image, you still want to use a CRT (picture tube) monitor and NOT an LCD or Plasma display.

CRT monitors are no longer going to be made and you may be able to get a bargain if you look.

Sony brand “broadcast” monitors are very popular.

Google for “Sony Broadcast Monitor PAL”.

S-Video, RGB, Component, and/or FireWire inputs (if your gear has any of those options) are preferred connections over BNC Composite.

Matte is spot on as usual.
The Sony BVM line is their Broadcast level monitors. So you might be surprised at the price. I’ve bought several monitors over the past couple of years, and I’ve always ended up the the Sony PVM line. For price and value, they are the best. Ikagemi makes great monitors as well, but they might be harder to get in Italy?
