  • Which format should I work on in FC for SD and HD Television?

    Hello all,

I need to set up a broadcast monitor to a G5. Am working with final cut HD and will soon move to v.5
I need to be able to playout projects both for SD and HD TV. In Europe I guess that means MPEG 2 and 4 respectively.
I don’t have a video deck which means I need a converter so to be able to view work on the broadcast monitor.
Which formats do I need to make sure the converter supports.. i.e. in what formats should I be working on in FC.?

    Thanks for your time,

    Riccardo

It’s always best to work in whatever format you’re going to master to or whatever you shot in. For instance we shoot a show on the Panasonic Varicam so I edit in 720p but then output to HDCAM and can also output directly to DigiBeta for SD.

If you don’t have a deck to view your projects, then you’ll need something like the AJA Kona 2 to output the signal
