ProRes is a much better codec than Animation as it is an edit codec in FCP, unlike Animation. It is also 10 bit and lossless compression so it is much smaller than Animation and it plays off FW800 drives. Animation is basically uncompressed 8 bit and would need a fast RAID drive to play in real time.

ProRes playback codecs for windows are available. If you search this forum, I am sure there are links to download and install ProRes playback codecs on windows machines.

Seams to work fine on pc. I had almost forgot you could play it on pc. I tried prorez when it was first released but i had some gamma shifts that I thought was from prorez + problem with playback on pc. Feels like every hardrive is a raid now! smooth.
