Which Flavour of Titan is the best?
Hi guys,
I’m trying to work out which is the best flavour of Titan to buy for OSX and was wondering if those with experience could help.
I would like to use the Titans in these two separate instances:
1. When it is placed inside a Mac Pro.
2. When it is used inside a Cubix expander.Ideally I want the biggest ram / best performing Titan possible.
The one I think it may be is this:

but I’m not sure it can be used in both instances, as mentioned above.

Not entirely true, in the sense that the outboard card rack is the most straightforward implementation, plus more open-ended. But *a* Titan can be coaxed to run in a pre-coffee-can MacPro (under Mountain Lion or later) with its own, dedicated power-supply strapped to the chassis. Its a kind of Frankenstein Cubix, and you do end up with a Medusa-head of cable snakes, and bolts through the neck and so on. It also starts robbing the USB bus… so even your keyboard and mouse starts needing a powered hub. Seriously, the nuke plant down your street will have to bring another reactor on line.
Having a rack full of them is an appealing idea, though, and once I get beyond a bunch of legacy jobs hanging around under Resolve9, I may get around to replacing all those flashed GTX480s populating my current Cubix.
And…. errr… there is a whole forum dedicated to “Resolve Basics and Configuration” that someone took the trouble to set up, but is rarely used. Why is that?

I have a EVGA Black Classified ready to go but need 10.9.2. Glad I bought one as the initial stock was sold out in less than 24 hours.
No need for Frankenstein, get one of these, works great, save that Mac PSU and motherboard:
Has worked great for a year with a 480 Flashed and now a 680 Classified Un-flashed. Titan Black consumes 55 more watts than the 680 but the x5 supply is rated at 450 watts which should be enough head room.

No luck on Mountain Lion 10.8.5 ? I thought this version supported the GTX 780, GTX Titan, and Gtx Ti, so I assumed it would support also the Gtx Titan Black ?

Just wondering if there is any differences between the Titan Black brands? Palit, Asus, Gigabyte and EVGA all make the Blacks. Will all the brands be fine working with Davinci?
