August 3, 2005 at 2:30 amIf your considering HD or HDV in your workflow then Kona2 is required. The I/O is standard def only.
The Kona2 and the I/O will co-exist nicely together on the same platform. Another way to go is Kona2 for your HD & SDI inputs and outputs, paired with an I/Ola for analog sources.
I recently made the switch from CineWave. The only feature I miss is the need to render DV material in an 8 or 10bit timelime.

August 3, 2005 at 2:05 pmI have the I/O LA teamed with the Kona2 and the Kbox and have been really happy so far…just a few glitches to work out with monitoring of audio/video to workout.
I am waiting for my JVC HD100 package to showup before really putting the Kona2 to its test.
I moved from the Blackmagic products due to their slow shipping of the Mulitbridge…that I had on order for over 3 month…and the problems that they have had in the past.
I am happy with the change.

I am basically in the same situation as you were. Been waiting for Decklink MB Extreme for months already and still no sign of it beeing available since they still keep postponing the release of this product. I am aiming at Kona 2 and have a couple of questions:
1) Will Kona 2 with Kbox support all SD and Hd formats
2) Why would it also be necessary to buy the I/O box?
3) How well does Kona 2 perform in terms of efficient RT accelerator, or is more beeing just a capturing card. I will be working intensively in hdv format – so that’s crucial for me. For example, how many real time streams?
4)Could you tell us a couple of more info on the monitoring glitches.Best regards
Drazen
