  • Where in the audio peak of clapper sound to sync?

Posted by Lucy Moon on September 17, 2013 at 10:59 am

    Hi All.

Got video and two sound sources to sync. I have the Movie Slate iphone app (not real timecode) to mark my takes.

I am finding that Premiere CC doesn’t automagically pick up the sync (“merge clips” with audio) as well as plural eyes for FCP used to.

So I am marking the clapper peak using in points, and merging that way.

My audio waveforms don’t look reassuringly similar, and I can’t decide whether to take the highest peak of the clapper audio, or the first frame of clapper audio.

Is there a “right way” of those two options?

    Thanks
    Lucy

Not sure if this is the right way, but I would sync the first video frame where the clapper is closed to the start of the peak wave (i.e. the base or zero-point preceding the peak). Enable “Show Audio Time Units” in the Timeline panel to align the waveform more precisely. Verify the sync at other points in the video.
