  • Where are MotionTracking Presets/Render Templates stored?

    Hey there,

I want to upgrade to Vegas 9.0c but I want to take my current Motion Tracking Presets and Render templates from Vegas 8.0c with me.

Where are they stored on my PC? Are v8 presets/templates they compatible in v9?

    Thanks.

Vegas Pro 9.0 should see everything from Vegas Pro 8.0 if you are installing on the same computer.

The Vegas Pro 8.0 & 9.0 render templates are kept here:

    Vista / Windows 7:

    C:\Users\[account]\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Render Templates\

    Windows XP:

    C:\Documents and Settings\[account]\Application Data\Sony\Render Templates\

Vegas doesn’t do motion tracking so I’m not sure what you are asking about there. Any presets from FX should be moved with the Sony Preset Manager 2.0 because they involved Windows Registry settings.

John, far less than 1/2 of my custom render templates survived the V9 upgrade.
This issue has been brought to Sony’s attention by several users but unfortunately they don’t seem to be interested in solving it anytime soon.
To make matters worse, the file type for this has a new extension so I can’t even copy them over to the new directory.

Thanks with the holidays I forgot about this question. Uhm all of my templates and FX presets survived. But after reading about the registry I’m wondering if I should keep v8 installed along side v9.

So far I’ve had no issues. Any thoughts?

If you’ve saved other presets, then you can’t totally remove V8. You can uninstall it, but some of the presets may still be in the folder structure that you can’t delete without loosing the presets. It takes up so little space that I would just leave V8 installed. You never know when it might come in handy (e.g., you find a bug in 9 that works in 8) On my XP partition I have Vegas 5, 6, 7, 8, & 9 all installed and running happily together.
