And then, when I open it, the Video Preview window is completely overtaken by the Project Media window:

And this is something that I never do. I never move the Project Media window all the way to the right like that, and I never completely shrink the window like in the first picture.

Also, if you look closely in the second picture, the Toolbar is missing, even though I have it checked under “View.” I have to uncheck it, then check it again to get it to show up.

Anyone have any idea how to fix any or all of these issues? Thanks.

I apologize in advance for not being able to answer your question, but something in your picture caught my attention: the number of icons in your system tray (next to your system clock). Do you know that each icon represents a program that is running (usually partially) in the background of your system, thus using up valuable system resources?

You should only have an icon for your anti-virus/security software. Any other icon is usually not needed. If you disable them all you should easily see faster boot-up times and an overall faster computer. By disabling these at system startup, they will not affect the program they are attached to.

If you wish to disable them (again, leave antivirus running at startup), from your ‘Run’ prompt type: MSCONFIG When the System Configuration window opens, click on the ‘Start Up’ tab. Uncheck everything EXCEPT your antivirus/security software. You still will have your basic icons for system sound and wireless, which will be unaffected.

Then reboot and enjoy your newfound power!

Click on the little window (as per your first screen shot). Press Alt-Spacebar and on the popup menu, click Maximize. You should be all set!

I actually have no problem maximizing the window after I open Vegas. It’s just annoying to not have it maximized already when I open it. I was hoping there’s a way to fix that.

Maximize it and keep the control button pressed and close the app. Next time you launch it it will open in maximized mode.
