    Hi there

I know in AE that when you press Edit Original you can edit the layer you are working on, but if you have a photoshop file and add a new layer to it, how can you add this new layer to the composition that AE has created from the photoshop file automatically? Or is this not possible, do you have to import the layer separately and then just put it in the composition? I know it seems like a trivial question, but it would definetly save time 🙂

    Cheers

    Hi Daniel,

I don’t think it’s possible. You could create a couple of empty layers though, right before you import your PS file. This way you could use the reload option in AE. That’s what I do when I know that I will be adding some layers to a ps file/comp.

    Hope this helps.

    Salut.

Nope, can’t do. All references to layers have to already exist. Anyway, I don’t think that it would be wise if AE always updated things. It may not look like that, but there’s a reason it doesn’t continuously check and import new layers.
