  • When I bake a material (single file), how do I know what channel to load it in?

Let’s say I bake color, alpha and reflectance as a single psd file, using bake material as opposed to bake object. When I go to load that single psd into a new material, do I put the image in every channel that was baked out, or just one–and how do I know which one?

I guess I have general confusion around baking. I’ve had a lot of situations where I bake out multiple channels and then try to re-texture the object with that file and have no idea how to set up that file in a new texture. Also, how are ‘surface colors’ different from colors, and does illumination translate to luminance or does that refer to lights?
