I am in the market for a new HVX200A fairly soon…I think. The purchase will most likely be made in appx. 3 months from now, should I be waiting or expecting any sort of new release that won’t leave me slapping my forehead a month after I’ve bought this camera?

In other words, what’s the word on any sort of new competition that can compare to the hvx that is in it’s appx. price range? (don’t think I can spring for the ex3)

Well NAB is in April, that’s generally when new products are announced. If you’re in the market for an HVX200, you should at least be aware of the HPX170 and the HMC150, both offering alternatives both in quality and pricepoint.

I would wait to see what NAB brings but Depression 2.0 also means that there are killer deals out there on used 200s and 200a’s

I saw a nice condition 200 go for $2,700.00 last week over on the DVXUser Market place and I have seen lightly used 200a go for $3,500.00. With the advent of solid state recording, if the deck has little to no hours, I would definitely consider used.

Why waste your money on new when there going to be a lot of newbies who got in over their financial heads in buying one and are willing to dump it so cheaply?
