  • When I import an XVID video into Premier Pro 2 I don’t get audio in timeline…help

A friend sent me a video clip with a file name that ends with the following:
    XviD-XOR.avi

I want to dump most of the video and shorten the clip to about 10 seconds. When I import the clip into Premier Pro 2 and then drop it on the timeline I get video but no audio. Is this a codec that I am needing? I can view (and hear) the clip using Windows Media Player so I would think I already have the codec…but maybe this codec only allows viewing and not altering???

    Thanks for advice.

Xvid is not suitable for editing, hence this problem. Convert the file with some conversion program to MS-DV type 2 avi.

VirtualDub is a freeware converter…google it.
