when `event/pan/crop icon doesn’t have the usual tools
My first project using Vegas-9.0e, running in windows XP pro sp/3, on a P4 3.2 ghz 3 GB ram and asus-P4C800DL mobo – Nvidia FX 5700LE vid card.
I’ve captured clips from a sony VX2000 (sd) camera
All the clips have had an `event/pan/crop’ icon that when clicked, I see a circle around the image and 8 points laid out around the perimeter. Those points allows me to zoom the camera and many other kinds of movement.One recalcitrant clip has the same icon, but when I click it, there is no circle or points laid out around the image… in fact I see no way on this certain clip, to do the camera zoom effect that has been possible in every other clip.
I’ve manipulated the zoom factor on only one other clip… and I’d like to do something similar on this specific clip.
Can anyone tell me why this clip might be missing the circle and 8 points around the image that allow zooming etc?

Try changing the Zoom % (first one under Workspace in the left side menu) down to 50% and see if that helps.

I must be beyond stupid here, but I see no way to get to any dialog with the magnify tool. No kind of clicking on it produces anything in the way of dialog.
The helpfile seems to indicate I should be able to access a dialog.
If I just (left) click the magnifying glass… I get a plus sign on the moving glass, and if I click on the image of course it gets bigger. But still no dialog or way to set %50.
The helpfile has this to say:

Zoom:
To change the magnification of the video in the workspace,select the Zoom box and type a new setting, or select the box and click the button to display a slider that you can use to adjust the magnification level.

You accidentally clicked on the word Mask.
Click on Position and everything will be as expected.
