Hello, I’m a beginner videographer trying to achieve this look for an upcoming shoot. Can anyone tell me how large the room has to be?

    Hey Son,

    Interesting shot.

But how does it start, and how does it end?

Is it static, or does the camera “travel” with the subject?

My first impulse would be to focus on the lighting, as in how high to you need the ceiling to be?
The size of the room itself can just be a big room (studio), or consider using blue screen/masking in a smaller room.

In my younger days, at the beginning of Digital HD, we often processed effect shots where the camera was turned on its side for maximum quality (9:16, which frankly anyone for YouTube Shorts and TikTok + the rest are using today).

Then tilt back in post, and build the surroundings. Which in your example of being pitch black should not be that difficult to do. Doing it this way also give you a different choice when it comes to what lens to use.

But start with the keylight, as once you know how you are going to do the light(s) for that look, the rest will follow.

    Just an opinion.
Keep in mind that there are smarter people around here with more camera experience.
