  • Whats the best way to export a quality animation?

I did an Animation in After Effects, and I’m not sure the best way to export it. I’ve exported it as an AVI and many other things, and the quality just isn’t that great.

I also tryed rendering it, but it just gave me a blank movie.

so, if you could give the rookie a few pointers, or direct me were to go, I’d be very greatful. 😀

(The animation is just pictures drawn in PS and imported into after effects.)

You need to determine where the movie is going immediately after AE:
    – to the web?
    – to a compression app for eventual DVD?
    – to a client for testing?
    – to a video editing app?
    – for final hard drive playback?

This will determine what Render Settings and Output Module you use in the Render Queue.

For a high-quality export, I like Quicktime Animation codec. For smaller size, compress that into something like Quicktime Sorenson 3 or Quicktime H.264. But again, context means a lot… if the video is for web, maybe try flash. If you are going to edit it on a windows machine, avi may be your only bet. It all depends.

    Thanks,
