What’s going on in this strange animation??
Posted by Don Johnson on December 24, 2017 at 6:00 amApart from the dithering, what’s going on in this video? I can’t work it out it’s as if some sort of kaleidoscope effect is happening? Confused!

December 26, 2017 at 7:41 amLooks like pixel motion frame blend, possibly from separate source footage, and a posterization effect, which can be done with curves.

December 30, 2017 at 3:11 pmWell, that’s what it looks like, but it’s not really possible to use a different source in After Effects. What I would try is the following, assuming the video is 6 seconds long (I didn’t time it):
1) take still images of the video, at even intervals, about 1 second apart (so 6 or 7 stills for 6 seconds)
2) make a video from those frames
3) stretch the 6-7 frame video to the original length using pixel frame blendingThat might end up looking similar to this effect.
