    Hi all,

I’m not a hardware person. I usually go through Promax and tell them what I expect my system to do and they build it for me. This time I’d like to bypass them and just order it directly from apple, etc. So what you recommend? Here’s what I would want from my system:

a system that could seamlessly and easily have many programs open and rendering/processing at a time, FCP, After Effects, Zaxworks, photoshop, etc.
I want some type of breakout box where I can capture HDV and use a different codec. I hate apple’s native HDV codec
I will probably attach just one cinema display, and probably need only about 1.5 TB of storage
I do want airport extreme and blutooth (although I don’t really know why I would need blutooth if I don’t have a wireless keyboard & mouse?)

I am primarily a wedding videographer, so I don’t need any super-duper high end. I don’t understand how much ram or what type of video card I would need.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Some of this depends on what type of cameras & decks (if any) you are using.

    For example:

We are set up to digitize with the JVC br-hd50 deck which has HDMI out. The Black Magic Intensity card is a perfect companion for getting out of HDV and digitizing as DVC Pro HD.

What are you using as a deck?
