What will be Canon’s XL2 replacement ?
Canon has a $300 rebate out on its XL2 from Oct 1 to Dec 31. On the photography side, my experience is that Canon runs the rebate just prior to a new model release. I have used their rebates for buying years back their 20D and last year their 40D, so I am not all that concerned with “chasing tech” … usually. I am shopping for XL2 level camera but with the age of the model, concernced that the next model release will be a great leap forward. I know Canon does not release firm info on model releases, but what are the views on what the XL2.x will be and best guesses on timing. Key functional adds that you would expect and whether “worth the wait” (I have no firm buy date).

Since everything’s moving to HD I don’t expect Canon is going to offer an XL2 replacement.
