What tool or plugin does….
We produce a TV program. The host has a loud laugh.
For this and other hot audio I’d like a plug-in to scan an audio file and reduce those hot spots by say 3 to 6db.I’ve been manually finding the spots and reducing them one by one which is quite time consuming.
Is there a way to automate this?After doing this my normalization is better.
Any ideas?

It sounds like you’re looking for a compressor or a limiter.

I use audio compression all the time in my video editor.
However, what I’m looking for is a destructive compressor/limiter I think.Larry

I’d probably be limiting while I was recording and compressing an limiting while doing the final mix.
