What to place on fastest drive – disk cache or media project assets?
Currently I have my media assets on a Thunderbay 4 in a 4 disk RAID 0 that runs about 630mb Write and 645mb Read speeds. I placed my disk cache on a Samsung 960 EVO 500GB M2 card (the M2 is only being used for cache, nothing else is on it). I recently did a speed test on the M2 and was amazed that it returned a score of 1,700mb Write and 2,200mb read.
Is my current configuration optimal or would it be better to switch and place disk cache on the slower RAID box (or a single SSD) and instead switch my media assets onto the much faster M2 card?
