what temperature should your drives be?
i downloaded iStats for my G5.
it shows me the temperature of my drives.
my main 80GB HD runs around 115F and the new WD caviar 500GB i installed today is running at 110F.is this normal temperatures?
other stats include (which i dont understand) are:
Drive Bay – 88F
backside – 79F
u3 heatsink – 130F
cpu A Amb – 85F
cpu A – 113F
cpu B Amb – 83F
cpu B – 115F -

It depends if you’re using the rectal mode or under the tongue mode. Contact your hard drive manufacturer or see their “normal operating” as listed on their website.

I can not tell you if those temperatures are normal or not. But what is sure is that the only way to ensure a longer life for any electronic device is to keep it as cool as possible.
