  • What should I get P2 Card or Firestore?

Posted by Media Productions canada on September 13, 2006 at 6:42 pm

I am getting a HDX-200 but want to know if I should go with a P2 Card or a Firestore. I have heard some problems with the firestore and the fact that you cann’t shoot 24pN or 30pN to the firestore.
How much footage can I get on a 4gig card if i am shooting at 720p 24pN?
I mainly want to use the P2 card now for the over cranking and Under cranking options.
    Thank you.

I’d go P2- they are much more reliable imho. But get the 8GB if you can at all afford to.

Get both if possible. P2 cards (8Gb) and Firestore HD are very useful

I went 4GB P2 cards because the FS100 wasn’t available. I don’t regret it, and am glad I did. Turns out, the FS100 is a little clunky from which to import footage (“organize P2” and all that), and doesn’t record in all the formats. And the P2 card fit right in the cam, while the FS100 hangs on the outside.

I use 4GB to facilitate burning DVDs in the field.

    best,

    I have 2 8gig cards and the p2 store, I can shoot 320 minutes at 720 24pn,
I would buy it again in heartbeat.
I am sure the firestore will break off the firewire connnection in due time.
Who wants to worry about the firewire cable getting snapped off.
I very happy with my purchase.
