What SD modes can the CANON XL H1 record in?
Can anyone tell me if the XL H1 can record in DVCAM mode? If not, then what SD modes can it record in?
I dont know the difference between HD, HDV, or DVCPRO HD either….. ??
At work we are looking to upgrade from our Sony PD170s and DVX100As to HDV cameras, but need more info on the nature of recording from cameras such as this one. Can anyone help?
Also, does anyone know of a release date in Asia? We are Hong Kong Based

DV. Only Sony cameras record in DVCAM.

I dont know the difference between HD, HDV, or DVCPRO HD either….. ??”Uncompressed HD is the highest quality, usually 1080i, HDV is a very compressed form of HD that actually records an MPEG stream, DVCPro HD is also a compressed form of HD with much better image quality and color information than HDV. HDCAM is a Sony format, DVCPro HD is a Panasonic format, and HDV is used by several manufacturers.
I would look at the “baby brother” Panasonic DVCPro HD camera coming out soon instead of HDV. MUCH better image quality than HDV. Apple had it on display in their booth at IBC so hopefully that bodes well for a fourth quarter release.
