    i just got after effects cs4 and i would like to create a easy to use and easy to manipulate on after effects.

    can any one recommend a plug-in that creates good looking fires?

    Fractal Noise, in combination with some of the distortion effects is frequently used.
    Trapcode form has been used to create flames. I haven’t done it personally though.
    You can find a ton of different ways to do it, including tons of tutorials here.
