What part of blurring faces do I have here
I’ve picked a new example to try to figure out how to blur something. The fire in the van is prominent. I selected pixelate and a square instead of circle. The numbers on the edge of the frame is I presume a way to identify a location in the film. In one example I had both video tracks with numbers but in this one only the duplicate track is numbered. What is the purpose of the symbols in the lower right hand corner of the upper video track? It will help me figure out what to do if I understand what these things are all about. I could not include the square at the edge of the cursor in the real picture but disappears when I went to print screen. It might be there but don’t see it. So how do I blur the van fire with the existing information here.

Did you study the screen capture that I made for you in your other post? It shows you everything you need to know. You must add both the blur and the cookie cutter in the same fx chain. All I see in your screen captures is just the cookie cutter but no blur. This is your first problem. Your second problem is that you are applying the fx to the lower track. You must apply it to the upper track. Vegas reveals tracks from the top down.
Take a good look at my screen capture and do exactly as I did.

John, Doyal might be doing that because of the method I suggested in the blurring thread.
They both accomplish the same thing but the methodology is different. -
Yea, it can be done either way but I just thought it would be simpler to keep it all on one track. The confusion is understandable. There are so many ways to accomplish the same thing.

I am looking for the post with the screen shot. The duplicated track is the lower track. As I understood the directions I edit the lower track. Which I think is just the opposite of the sample you gave. But in either case I think there is enough basic help to allow me to finish blurring. I would like to know before we get off the subject is the editing on the copy or original no matter which is the upper track? Does it make a difference. If I blur the original upper track what is the purpose of the duplicate track? Does the blurring effect show in the video preview? I need to know that so I will be able to distinguish the blurring and where it shows up.
I told a new guy about the forum today. New to Sony vegas but old time videographer. He has both the 10 pro and the Movie maker 10. Which version I don’t know
I have one lousy film of Tenino and then I wont need blurring. If anyone answers this please answer all the questions So I can get off this subject.

Yes, in the sample I gave, the top track is modified.

No, the editing is always on the upper track regardless of whether it is the duplicate or the original.

Yes, Vegas sees the tracks from the top down. Higher tracks hide lower tracks.

The duplicate lower track will show the non-blurred part of the image.

Yes. Look at my example again. You can see the blur in the preview that I applied to the upper track.
