  • What mode should I shoot in for Blue-Ray?

I am very new to the creation of Blu-ray discs and was wondering what I should be shooting in to create a blue-ray disc in Encore CS3. I’m editing in Premiere CS3

    I’m using a JVC GY-HD250U shooting in 1280x720P 29.97 drop frame.
I noticed that the options for Blue-Ray on the what is section specify that for 1280×720 the options are
    1280x720x59.94p, 50p (16:9)
    1280x720x24p, 23.976p (16:9)

    My camera can shoot in:
    HDV HD-60P
    HDV HD-30P
    HDV HD-50P
    HDV HD-20P
    HDV HD-24P
What should I be shooting in or does it matter?

For an ESPN SportsCenter look, shoot in HDV HD-60P and pair it with the 1280x720x59.94p settings.

For a look more like film, shoot in HDV HD-24P and pair it with the 1280x720x24p, 23.976p settings.

Those suggestions are a good place to start, but don’t stop there; shoot some footage and author it to a BD-RE disc and judge for yourself. (BD-RE prevents making expensive coasters) See what looks the best for your situation, and what works the best in your workflow.

Thanks for the help. I would opt to shoot in 1280×720 59.94p just to have more frames than less.
I’m worried though because I’m currently using Matrox hardware and I read a post yesterday which stated that due to a glitch in the hardware my system will encode 59.95 fps instead of 59.94 fps. I haven’t tested it out yet but I should know tomorrow.
