Working on a new community ‘slideshow’ channel, and the only thing holding me up is the lower thirds weather ticker. Anyone know if there are services available that provide it, or at the very least, what this is called? Got the DV scaled main viewer and a sidebar window going…this lil guy is the last piece!

I think Yahoo weather api gives you ability to pull in data to your application.

For example, you could use PowerPoint to build your slideshow, then use a program like Dynamic Elements to insert the weather feed.

We built something like this in an Excel spreadsheet.

It had macros to update fields with connections to weather.gov. It pulled XML data and populated the fields and there was a separate sheet within the document that would correlate the weather.gov icons to a local set of weather icons.

We used a Imagine (Harris) IconStation to display a rolling set of city conditions by pulling data from that Excel sheet.

It would work until there was a file lock and the sheet would stop updating. 🙁
