What is this technique called and how can I do it?
I am fairly new to fcp so this may be very advanced but I’m looking for tutorials and I don’t even know what terms to use to describe what I want. Here goes. I have a person in a chair with a painting in a frame hanging on the wall behind him. The man talks and the camera moves from right to left slowly. At points the painting gets removed from the frame and its angle changes. How can I take my own image and put it in the painting frame on the wall and have it be proportionately correct as the camera moves around? I don’t even know where to begin?

hey – if I read that correctly – its not really an FCP thing – more of an after effects thing – if you want to insert your own image onto a plane like a painting frame, you’re probably going to want to use a technique called “four corner pinning” if you search for that term in the AE forums or tutorials, I’d say there’s tons of info to be had.

FCP does 4 corner pinning as well. It’s called the distort tool. Make sure the canvas is in wireframe mode and press d. Then grab the corners and have at it.
