What is the right way to crop and to pan?
Hello!
I try to use Adobe Premiere Pro 2017 for making pictures slide show.
As picture resolution usually is much more than FullHD, I make cropping and pan by using motion effect (position and scaling).
There are two things that I can’t understand:1. If I made scaling from 10% to 50% and set linear option for keyframe than I get non-linear motion. It is slowing down to the end. Obviously it happen because I change scale in percent. Changing from 10% to 20% and from 20% to 30% takes the same time, but real size in pixels changes not the same. How can I do linear scaling?
2. When I’m changing position of the pictures in the frame I can’t get full control for composition because I don’t see anything beyond the frame borders (in Program Monitor window). It looks strange, because in other Adobe products (Photoshop, Lightroom) cropping frame shows over the pictures and every moment you can see what objects are into the frame and what are not. I think maybe I do something wrong? What is the right way to crop and to pan?

Sounds like a mathematical issue when scaling such a large file size in relation to the video window, which is why it appears to slow down. Someone else could probably answer it better.Question #2
If you want to see the bounding box of the clip you are scaling and keyframing;
in the lower left of the Program window change the viewing size from 100% to 50% or 25%. In the Effects tab, click on the little square to the left of the word Motion, this will activate the bounding box of the clip in the Program window. You can also click and drag the box around to re-position, grab a corner to resize/scale, or the sides to adjust rotation.Joe

Q1. I have tried an experiment. I took an image with resolution 1920×1280. The image contain three rectangle – 1920х1080, 1440×810 and 960×540. I scaling the image from 200% to 100%. On the first frame near the frameboarder I see the least rectangle (960×540). On the last frame – the biggest (1920×1080). Obviously, using the linear settings for keyframe, I should see medium rectangle (1440×810) on the medial frame, but I don’t. Why?

When you are croping in Photoshop, you can see part of image outside the frame. You can see real image, not just the border. Dave LaRonde adviced to use AE, but as I understand it has the same interface and it not show something outside the frame border
