  • What is the proper way to get rid of proxy files before archiving?

After a project is finished, I’d like to get rid of its proxy file before archiving to save space.
I guess just deleting them would cause Premiere to complain once I reopen the project.
How should I go about it?

I don’t know a “proper” way either and if there is one I’d like to know it too.
Until someone posts a description of the correct way I can at least tell you from personal experience that Premiere will only notify you that the proxies are missing. But that’s it.
When you load the project you will just see a list of the missing proxies. > Just click “offline” and the project loads as usual… just without the proxies.

Thanks Marc, indeed the project loads as usual without the proxies, and then when it’s saved, exited and reopened it does not complain anymore.
I guess, a “detach proxies” command would be appropriate here.
