What is the main thing after effects strains on a PC system?

Recently, well today, my computer has started making beeping noises after I have been using AE for about 5 minutes or so, it will stop as soon as I close it. This also occurs when Im converting AVI files to VOB files, so it must be something in the system. Ive looked in the motherboard booklet but it doesnt say anything about different sounding beeps…so Im a bit lost. I have a feeling it could be the fan leading to overheating but Im not sure really…I know AE uses alot or RAM….its very confusing anyway!

It sounds like it could be memory issues.
If you’re doing any time intensive video projects, those tend to lend heavy on the memory.
If you have some way to have your memory swapped out, you could check this out pretty quickly.
Take your rig over to a PC repair shop and have them troubleshoot it and see what’s going down…

you could actually overheat your video card too. My GeForce 4 card goes very active while I’m working in AE – I can hear it’s fan humming – it turns on when using anything with open GL. If you have a card with a fan on it, and it’s not working, it could cause a problem. No idea if it would actually make your PC beep though.
