  • What is the best recommended direct Capture Device to use with the Sony Video Capture module within Vegas?

I am looking exclusively into capture devices that are compatible with Sony Video Capture function within Sony Vegas.
I am not looking for the top of the line quality. Just something that matches the current Gaming Capture Hardware quality.

I currently own an HDPVR 2 but I am now trying to move my whole recording procedure to software. Meaning (for example) instead of using a portable audio recorder to record the voice, I am now using an audio interface to record directly to Vegas. So the Audio is dealt with. Video, however has been proving to be quote a difficult to find a suitable solution for.

    My Computer:
    Windows 7 64bit

    HP XW8200
    Intel Xeon (2 single processors)
    4GB DDR3 memory
    Nvidia Gforce Gt 220

That’s because Vegas Video Capture is designed only to work with IEEE 1394 Firewire devices. It usually fails with USB devices because it wasn’t designed for that so you can save yourself a lot of grief by not trying to get it to do something it was never designed to do. I would just capture using the software that’s included in your hardware capture device.

Sorry to inform you that the Sony Video Capture function within Vegas
is meant specifically for IEEE FireWire acquisition.
The whole gaming capture and use of HDPVR 2 is a consumer based process
and best to use what they provide.
