  • What is the best codec in camstudio to use when working in Final Cut

Posted by Wesley Summers on September 25, 2009 at 7:11 pm

Hello I am editing some how to videos that are 2-3 hrs long and captured using camstudio on a pc. Currently it is being captured using a divx codec and the files are .avi. They look good, but when I bring the files in to work on in fcp it takes an ungodly amount of time to render. I found a codec called Ensharpen that is supposed to capture in a quicktime format, I tried downloading a trail but for whatever reason it isn\’t showing up in the codec video options menu. I was wondering if anyone else has had experience working with screen captured files using camstudio and what codec or setting you would recommend.

OR also thought of trying a scan converter to svideo or RCA, and then record it with a camera.

Any help is greatly appreciated, b/c at this rate I might be through rendering by Christmas

    Hi Wesley,
I have never worked with that kind of stuff, but I think that capturing to any QT codec should be better.
I think that to play the “Ensharper” codec you need a reader.

Isn’t the “reader” camstudio or is a reader a seperate program of some kind?
    Thanks
