What is the most important for adobe premiere working in the timeline? More cores or more ghz? Can the xeon 2640 2.5ghz 6 cores be faster than the 2650 with 8cores 2.0ghz? In benchmarks sure the 2650 probely be faster but in real life working in the timeline?

And yes this is the two cpu im looking at.

According to adobe, more cores is better – especially if you include hyperthreading. However, according to Tomshardware, and overclocked cpu can easily beat the next processor up (on a “more cores” list).

So i guess if you like OCing and tweaking you can save some money. Otherwise go for more cores and save time!

In your case I would prefer the 2.5ghz 6 core CPU.
